Crisis is said to be currently rocking the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), over how funds for the 2023 election were allegedly misappropriated during the election period.

It was also gathered that some stakeholders of the party are said not to be happy how the Elder Omene Sobotie-led State Executive Committee were elected.

Besides, it was further learnt that some chieftains are peeved by the way things panned out particularly with the party congresses that produced the leadership at various levels.

This is coming after the party lost its bid to take over the governance of the state at the Supreme Court.

Inside sources hinted that the party lost the governorship election it was poised to win due largely to the structure of it’s leadership and alleged mismanagement of election funds.

As a result, there are calls for a post mortem of the election that would lead to proper auditing of political activities within the party and avoid looming crisis that might linger into 2027.

In a leaked document sighted by our correspondent, stakeholders are calling on the chairman, Elder Sobotie, to convene a meeting to review the 2023 general election in the state.

The proposed stakeholders’ meeting is expected to examine the root cause(s) of the party’s failure to win the election despite perceived massive overflow of goodwill for the candidate, Omo-Agege.

According to the document, the meeting would involve all members of SEC, LGA chairmen, all elected party leaders and critical stakeholders/leaders across the state.

The party chieftains expressed conviction that a post mortem exercise was necessary to build the party in the State into an election winning machine ahead of 2027.
