…pledges active participation in burial

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has commiserated with the family of Late Ifeoma Okafor of NTA Asaba, who died recently.

The state council chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, made the remark today in Asaba when the council paid a condolence visit to the family.

The chairman was accompanied by the State Secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu; State Auditor, Comrade Celestine Afokobah; former Vice President, Zone F. Edward Ogude; and Chairmen, Asaba and Indigenous Correspondents’ Chapels, Comrades Ifeanyi Olannye Ifeanyi and Kenneth Orusi.

Speaking, the chairman said the union was shocked over the death of Mrs. Ifeoma Okafor, whom he described as a “Library destroyed by death”.

He said the Late Okafor, was a core unionist, whose motivation was to move the council forward.

He urged the husband, Mr. Okafor, to take solace in the memories they both shared while she was alive.

Oyowe said that the NUJ would play an active role in her burial ceremonies and requested the husband and family to carry the council in the burial arrangements.

Comrade Ogude, equally charged the husband to take solace in the fact that they lived together happily before she passed on.

Secretary of the Council, Comrade Sorokwu, described the deceased as a reporter who had vast knowledge of everything and made her contributions to issues.

They prayed to God to give the husband and others she left behind the fortitude to bear the loss, describing it as irreparable.

In his response, Mr. Okafor appreciated the union for coming to share in their pains.
