Police Launches Full Scale Investigation Into Death Of 65-year-old Housewife, Houseboy In Anambra

The Anambra State police has launched full scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of one Mrs. Obiageli Ezeuboaja and her houseboy, simply identified as Chikamso.


The duo slept on Tuesday 13th July 2020, and never woke up.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, stated that detective from Aguata Police Division, rushed the deceaseds to the hospital on their arrival at the scene but were confirmed dead on arrival by a doctor.

According to SP Mohammed, the duo used charcoal fire to warm the house due to cold while the windows were locked.

The PPRO disclosed that on Wednesday 15th July 2020, the husband of the woman, Mr. Bernard Ezeuboaja, reported to the police that his wife and her houseboy who slept the previous night in their house didn’t wake up.

Hear him: “Today being 15th July 2020, there was a report at Aguata Police Station by one Bernard Ezeuboaja, male of Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia in Anambra State that on the same date at about 9:00am, he discovered that his wife one Obiageli Ezeuboaja (his wife) aged 65 years and her house boy one Chikamso ‘m’ surname unknown aged about 12 years never woke up from sleep since the previous night.As a result, he opened the door and discovered their lifeless bodies.

“Following the report,Police detectives attached to Aguata division visited the scene and rushed victims to the hospital for medical attention but they were all certified death on arrival by a medical doctor.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased set a charcoal fire in order to warm the room due to cold weather leaving all the windows closed and without ventilation.

Meanwhile, the charcoal container was recovered as exhibit while their corpses have deposited at Ekwulobia hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
