Ministry Of Youth To Commence Senatorial District Engagement — Weyinmi

On 29th of April 2024, Delta State Ministry of Youth Development, would commence its senatorial district engagement, begining with Delta Central Senatorial District, the Commissioner, Mr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi, fondly addressed as Agbass, has said.

The eloquent Commissioner made the disclosure on Monday 15th April 2024, at an interactive session with journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Press Center in Asaba, the State capital.

“I am happy to announce to you that on the 29tj of this month, we are going to commence our Senatorial District by Senatorial District engagement starting with Delta Central”, Weyinmi announced.

He revealed that the engagement is in line with the all-inclusiveness of the MORE Agenda of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori where various critical youth groups would be in attendance.

He listed the groups to include the youth executive of all communities in the Senatorial District, SUG executive of the higher institutions in the senatorial district, NANS, youth parliamentarians in the District, ethnic nationality youth council, youth wing of CAN,

Others are Youth Wing of None-Indigene Forum, NYCN – comprising of the chapters and State executive, executive of both LGA and State Council of PLWDs, executive of female youths at the LGA and State levels among other various critical groups would be expected in the engagement.

According to him, “When we came onboard, we declared that our approach towards youth development in Delta State, is going to be scientific, empirical and statistically driven.

“Scientific because that will be the basis upon which we are going to access ourselves. If we are progressing, we will know, if we are not also progressing, we will also know.

“Of course that was what informed us that we needed a policy because in the eyes of the law you cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand.

“So without a policy, it will be difficult for is to drive because considering the very sensitive nature of the demography we want to manage. It is this scientific approach that made us to come up with that policy.

“After we came up with the policy, we then felt it was necessary for us now to move into the field to implement the policy especially after we have gotten a budget”, he said.

He maintained that no critical segment of the youth body would fail in attending to the engagement, stressing that the engagement would be very comprehensive as it occupies a critical position in the heart of the State governor.
