The Senior lawyer, who expressed his delight at the Apex Court’s verdict in the goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kenneth Orusi, urged the opposition to join hands with the President to move the country forward.

The renowned philanthropist cum industrialist who is a bosom friend of President Tinubu, said: “I congratulate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his emergence as the winner of Nigeria’s Presidential election, a victory that has just been affirmed by the Supreme Court.

“I believe that your victory after the general elections is a testament to your resilience and service as a former governor of Lagos State, former Senator, Lagos West Senatorial District and will contribute to the deepening of the roots of democracy in Nigeria.

“I urge you to be magnanimous in victory and leverage the pervading peaceful atmosphere to stabilize the nation by seeking to reassure Nigerians that you will run a government of national unity that will embrace, accommodate and heal all citizens and strongly establish Nigeria on the path of sustainable economic growth.

“I believe that your leadership, guided by your rich experience, wisdom and sincere Pan-African spirit, will also bring about closer cooperation among African leaders to enhance the attainment of the desired political stability, peace and development on the continent”.

Gbagi, who in October 2022, told the Arewa Consultative Forum, a group of northern elders and leaders, in Abuja, that the South would not assent to the North succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, wished President Tinubu, a successful administration, peace and happiness under his tenure.

He stated in several fora that there was untruthfulness in the relationship between the north and the south.

According to him: “There was an agreement, which of course is sacrosanct, and it is one term for north, one term for south irrespective of the party.

“North is finishing now; south will have to do its turn. It will come back to the north later and in that way, the best material between the two sides will emerge.

It would be recall that President Tinubu, returned to Nigeria in the early 1990s and was employed by Mobil Nigeria as an accountant, before entering politics as a Lagos West senatorial candidate in 1992 under the banner of the Social Democratic Party.
