As the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the local government continue to increase unabated, market women, traders, security agencies among others have been charged to take precautionary measures geared towards defeating the pandemic.
Chairman, Ughelli north local government area of Delta State, Hon (Chief) Godwin Adode (JP) met with market women, traders, security agencies, taskforce and community leaders.
In his address, Aside, noted that the use of nose masks is now mandatory for both buyers and sellers, stressing that in the past few weeks “we have recorded a lot of suspected cases and we have also lost a lot of persons to this pandemic”.
Adode also warned against trading along the major road, noting that the government would not take it lightly with anyone who fails to comply with the order of the government.
He warned youths claiming the market as their oil well, collecting money from market women to enable them sell along the major road to stay away from the market as security agencies would henceforth make arrest.
“The taskforce will swing into action on monday 07/06/2020, the taskforce comprises of the security agencies, DESTMA with Comrade Felix Olokpa (JP), as its chairman.
Coach Tete, foldly called by his admirers, maintained that, “those allocating portion to you people in the name of Community youths should desist from it, because if anyone is found wanting he or she will face the law.
While responding, Comrade Felix Olokpa, Comr Ofomukoro Olerhimena Lucky, the representative of the security agencies, lwhreko Community President, the Chairlady of the market, Hon Prince Otemu amongst others appealed to the traders to adhere to the order of the government, stressing that we are our problem.
“We are just too stubborn, what the government is doing today is not oppression, the government is doing everything within her powers to ensure lives are well protected. Obedience is better than sacrifice”.
