BREAKING NEWS: Group Tells EFCC To Investigate Immediate Past Governor

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has been told to beam its fresh searchlight on the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano’s eight years reign.

Executive Director, Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation and Chairman, Campaign for Democracy South East, Dede Uzor, A Uzor, in a statement in Awka, said the former Governor must be made to account for the “the wasted eight years he held sway as the Anambra State Governor.

He expressed disappointment that for eight years Obiano could not do anything in the state that could have direct impact on the people, lamenting that he left the state under abject poverty.

Dede Uzor stressed that Obiano’s legacies were glorified airport, stadium, all white elephant projects that don’t have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the State.

He said even Local Government Chairmen during his administration should be probed as most of them became so corrupt that they siphoned the allocations made for the development of their Local Governments.

Under Obiano, said Dede Uzor, touts took over Anambra State, there was no single good road in the state, including his community Aguleri.

Until his successor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo awarded Niger Street leading to

Onitsha Main Market, Obiano did not consider its strategic economic importance, including all the bad roads in Fegge, Onitsha.

Dede Uzor urged Soludo to avoid his predecessor’s pitfalls, but should remain focused and adopt rendering monthly account of the state revenue generation.

The activist urged Gov Soludo to hasten the ongoing road construction works, especially the Niger Street to Main Market, Ziks Avenue, Portharcourt Road, Mbonu Ojike street, Miss Elems, Creeks Road, Bida road, Silas Works road all in Fegge and equally engage youth to reduce high crime rate in the state, Dede Uzor advised
