In a surprising development that may signal a dramatic shift in Rivers State’s political landscape, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that embattled Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, visited him in a bid to broker peace amidst their prolonged political feud.

Wike disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday, stating, “Fubara came to me with two governors and one elder statesman. Just that they are both APC governors. He said he wants peace.”

The meeting, which reportedly took place at Wike’s private residence, was attended by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and former Ogun State Governor and elder statesman, Olusegun Osoba.

According to sources familiar with the visit, Governor Fubara “walked straight into Wike’s living room because that’s a familiar terrain,” signaling a gesture of humility and desperation to resolve the deepening rift.

The plea for reconciliation comes in the wake of Fubara’s suspension by President Bola Tinubu in March over his escalating power struggle with Wike.

The involvement of two APC governors in the peace mission has further fueled speculation about a behind-the-scenes alignment and what it could mean for the PDP’s internal dynamics and future of Rivers State politics.

The political chessboard in Rivers appears to be shifting, and fast.
