A consultative move to establish a regional security outfit by the Braced Commission to key stakeholders, civil society groups and state governments that made up the Commission geared towards the integration of the oil rich region amongst other pressing demands affecting the region has begun.

The Director General of BRACED COMMISSION, Ambassador Joe Keshi, at a parley with the BRACED Union leadership led by its National President, High Chief Monday Wehere, in Port Harcourt expressed satisfaction over the activities of BRACED Union from Inception.

In a release signed by Amatare Mozimo, Director of Media (Electronics) BU, Ambassador Keshi, commended its leadership for being organized and deeply filled by professionals from all walks of life fit to man sensitive sectors for the successful integration of BRACED.

The DG assured BU of its support as the BRACED Commission is resuscitated and empowered to carry out its assigned duties in order to bring about rapid transformation and adequate security for the region’s smooth integration.

While the DG and its team moved on consultations with governments of the six BRACED states, Ambassador Keshi expressed confidence in civil groups like BU to give the needed support for effective and efficient service to BRACED.

In his response, National President of BRACED Union, High Chief Monday Wehere thanked the DG of BRACED COMMISSION for his recognition and commendations showered on BRACED Union, and promised to work with the commission towards achieving set goals of regional socio-economic  integration for BRACED states.

While commending the move by the BRACED Commission to forge a regional security with Governments of the region, Chief Wehere stated that the move was long over due as BU has been on the clamour for a regional security outfit to forestall insurgency or threats to peace, even before the likes of AMOTEKUN in the South-West was established.

The BU helmsman assured the BC boss of adequate grassroots skilled security personnel as manpower to assist in support of the BC whenever it is ready to kick off its regional security outfit as it continues its consultations with governors of the South-South  region in that regard.

You will recall that the BRACED COMMISSION DG had met with Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday as part of his consultations with governors of the region towards the setting up of a regional security outfit for the South-South.

BU has been on the vanguard of championing for peaceful socio-economic  ties among states of the South-South region of Nigeria.

The term BRACED is an acronym for all the states of the South-South region – B for Bayelsa; R for Rivers; A for Akwa Ibom; C for Cross Rivers; E for Edo and D for Delta State.

On the BRACED UNION entourage to the BRACED COMMISSION’s Director General in Port Harcourt were: HC Monday Wehere JP, (National President), Hon. Blessing Awe, (Deputy National Secretary),  Arch Tom Inko Tariah, (Chairman, Rivers State Council).
