2023: Adebayo Is A Symbol Of Promise, Assurance, Confidence — Gen. Babangida

Former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has sent best wishes to the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo on his 50th birthday.

Babangida, a retired Nigerian Army General and politician, joined family, friends and associates of the media owner in celebrating another year heralded by God’s benevolence and mercies.

This was disclosed in a mind-blowing statement the former military president of Nigeria, who served from 1985 until he resignation in 1993 penned down for Adebayo, a beacon of hope come 2023.

Babangida said Adebayo would shape the political and economic development of the country and lead the way to a united, just and prosperous society.

Babangida who rose through the ranks to serve from 1984 to 1985 as Chief of Army Staff, prayed for longer life, good health and strength for the quinquagenarian, whom he refers to as “Wole”, to chat a new course for the country.

According to the statement, he personally signed, Babangida wrote: “I am pleased to say a few words in honour of the 50th birthday of Prince Adewole Adebayo.

“On momentous and memorable occasions like this, when younger ones around us come of age, it permits us to relive the journey so far for us Elders, the younger generation and our country so that we may reflect on the years already passed and the opportunities yet promised by the years ahead.

“With respect to Wole, he is a symbol of promise, assurance and confidence not only that the future of our dear country Nigeria is guaranteed and the new leaders who will lead the way to a united, just and prosperous society are grown up in front of us.

“Reflecting on the life odyssey as a lawyer, media owner and a politician, who promotes nationalistic, Pan-Nigeria and patriotic causes with exceptional courage and steadfastness, we the generation that gave our lives to ensure the oneness of Nigeria can trust that the baton is passing into good hands and the match towards greatness is not halted.

“My wishes for Wole as he begins his fifth decade are for the blessings of God on him, Lilian and the children, especially as Wole assumes leadership responsibility in our national affairs for which I am supremely confident and trust that he is well prepared for”, the retired General, noted.
