Delta Governor Commissions Traditional Parliament, Ogwa Ukwu For Asaba People Built By Ezenyili

Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has Inaugurated the Ogwa Ukwu Ahaba hall, just as he reinstated the determination of his administration to consolidate on the achievements of the previous administration for even development of the state.

The Ogwa Ukwu Ahaba hall, built by
the Oshimili south local council chairman, Hon. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili,
was commissioned on Thursday July 27th 2023, with modern day facilities.

In his address, Oborevwori who was represented by his Deputy, Monday Onyeme said his administration was ready to consolidate and improve on the achievements and legacy of the previous administration in transforming Asaba to the status of a state capital.

“I want to reiterate that my admission will consolidate and improve on the legacy of the previous administration. Today Asaba is wearing a look of a proper capital, thanks to the our immediate past Governor, the Ekweme of our time, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Governor, who used the opportunity to congratulate the Asagba of Asaba, HRM, Obi Edozien on his 99 birthday, reiterated his commitment to even development of the state, most especially the capital and the Anioma nation.

“I want to congratulate His Royal Majesty, Obi Edozien on your 99yrs birthday and assure you that Asaba and the Anioma Nation will not be neglected under my administration. As the capital, Asaba will continue to receive priority attention.

“All ongoing projects in the city and environs will be completed while new ones will also be initiated,” Oborevwori stated.

Continuing, the Governor commended the Oshimili South Local Government Chairman, Hon Kelvin Ezenyili, his councilors and management staff of the council for the completion of the ultra modern project, describing him as dynamic and hardworking.

Governor Oborevwori however placed emphasis on the need for the local government Council to take proactive measure on environmental sanitation.

“I want to use this opportunity to emphasize the matter of environmental sanitation. Though my council Chairman has stepped it up, but it is not enough.

“This is something dear to my heart. We still have issues with waste disposal and cleanliness in our communities, Asaba inclusive. I want to see our local government Councils take proactive measures to remedy the situation,” the governor added.

The Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, earlier in his address disclosed that the Ogwa Ukwu hold a very important place in his mind and that of the people of Asaba since it served as a meeting point for important dignitaries.

He said the project which serve as a sort of modern day traditional parliament was initiated to meet the infrastructural developmental needs of the people.

Present at the ceremony was the immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, member representing Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu and other dignitaries.
