Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has secured projects worth over ₦30 billion aimed at transforming infrastructure and agricultural productivity across Delta North and its environs.

The projects are part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, funded through special federal intervention programs.

Announcing the development via his official Facebook page on Wednesday evening, Senator Nwoko emphasized that the interventions would address longstanding challenges in the region, particularly in water management, irrigation, and food production.

“These projects, funded through Mr. President’s special intervention funds, will tackle key infrastructural deficits and dramatically enhance agricultural output in our communities,” Nwoko stated.

Among the major undertakings are the Ogwashi-Uku and Idumuje Dam projects under the Benin-Owena River Basin Authority.

The Ogwashi-Uku Dam in Aniocha South is already completed, with construction underway for water treatment and reticulation systems. In Aniocha North, over ₦7.5 billion has been allocated to the Idumuje Dam to improve water supply and management.

“We are focused on year-round irrigation, providing improved seedlings, fertilizers, and modern farming equipment to boost food security,” the Senator added.

Senator Nwoko credited the projects to his close partnership with President Tinubu and relevant federal agencies, describing them as both a fulfillment of campaign promises and a step toward actualizing a more prosperous Delta North.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Michael Nwoko, the Senator’s Chief of Staff, led a technical inspection team to the Idumuje Dam site.

He confirmed that the feasibility study has been included in the federal budget, with the design and construction phases next in line.

The dam, according to Dr. Nwoko, will include modern features such as water treatment facilities, home distribution systems, and hydroelectric components to ensure reliable and safe water access across Delta North.

He also reflected on Senator Nwoko’s earlier tenure in the House of Representatives (1999–2003), during which he was pivotal in attracting the Ogwashi-Uku Dam.

“With both Ogwashi-Uku and Idumuje dams moving forward, we are finally addressing Delta North’s chronic water distribution challenges,” Dr. Nwoko noted.

“These projects underscore Senator Nwoko’s dedication to delivering impactful, people-centered development across Delta North,” he concluded.
