EXPOSED: Oborevwori Allegedly Lavished N2 Billion On Defection Ceremony

The Labour Party in Delta State has slammed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over what it described as a wasteful defection ceremony.

Reacting to the mass defection of PDP members to the APC in Asaba, the National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Labour Party, Chief Tony Ezeagwu, criticized the event as an extravagant misuse of public funds.

“We are now the only credible opposition in Delta State,” Ezeagwu said. “We thank God that Governor Oborevwori and his PDP members made the mistake of defecting to the APC.

“As far as the Labour Party is concerned, we have nothing to fear. In fact, it gives us an advantage. By the time they’re done fighting among themselves in APC, we would have advanced significantly.”

He predicted internal crises within the APC, saying, “There will definitely be serious infighting. These are people from diverse backgrounds, many of whom had earlier left APC due to quarrels. Now they are all converging again. Expect even more conflicts.”

Ezeagwu added, “Nigerian politicians are driven by personal interest, not the people’s welfare. Everyone is out to secure what benefits them.

That’s exactly what will play out in APC. Eventually, it will lead to more disintegration within their ranks.”

He also speculated that many of the defectors would eventually jump ship again: “Watch closely, almost 80 percent of those who moved to APC will move again.

“I’m not saying they’ll join Labour Party, but PDP is already decimated. It will be hard for them to find their footing in Delta again.”

Describing the ceremony as a colossal waste, Ezeagwu said, “It is an absolute misuse of public resources for Oborevwori to spend such a huge amount just to stage a defection to APC.

“We keep talking about looting in the past, and yet they continue wasting public funds”, he said.

He concluded by referencing former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole’s infamous comment:

“Their move to APC is nothing more than seeking shelter. As Oshiomhole once said, ‘Once you join APC, your sins are forgiven.’ That’s the only reason they are there.”

It was alleged that over N2 billion was spent on the defection ceremony.
