Delta To Serve As Performing Centre To Train Aquatic Athletes, Says Aliyu

As ovation continue to grow high for the sporting standard the Delta State government has set at the ongoing National Sports Festival, holding at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba and other locations across the state, the President, National Aquatic Federation, Chief Chinoye Aliyu, said the facilities on ground would serve as performance centre for future aquatic athletes.

She expressed hope that the facilities would be used as international center for training and retraining of athletes.

Aliyu made the revelation while addressing journalists during an interview in Asaba, the state capital.

The sports expert, expressed satisfaction at the standard of the swimming pool and the ongoing event for the swimming competition.

She pointed out that swimmers would immediately utilize complex after the programme for other events, stressing that the complex would be used to as annual swimming competition that would involve all swimming federation, military and paramilitary.

She maintained that the president of school sports would organize a swimming competition to select Nigerian children that are going to represent Nigeria in June, disclosing that they would be camped in the state for training.

According to her,the international body is monitoring the swimmers, especially on their nutrition and the use of m drug.

She commended the state government for creating a wonderful complex for swimmers, adding that the state government has broken national records.
