The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, has described Pa E.K. Clark as an inspirational leader whose unwavering voice championed minority rights and the development of the Niger Delta in proportion to its vast natural resources.

Comrade Oyowe made this statement during a condolence visit to the Clark family at Pa Clark’s country home in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area, alongside members of the union.

He emphasized that the visit was to express solidarity with the Clark, Fuludu, and Ambakaderemo families while celebrating the life and legacy of the elder statesman and nationalist, whose passing represents a significant loss to the Ijaw Nation, Delta State, the Niger Delta, the South-South region, and the entire country.

Paying glowing tribute to the late icon, Comrade Oyowe noted that Pa Clark was a beacon of inspiration for younger generations, having encouraged many to embrace advocacy and leadership roles.

He affirmed that his tireless fight for minority rights and the development of the Niger Delta would remain indelible in history.

He further highlighted Pa Clark’s unwavering stance on issues of minority struggles and underdevelopment, coupled with his fearless approach to speaking truth to power, regardless of opposition.

This, he said, earned him immense respect among his peers and beyond.

Comrade Oyowe also recalled Pa Clark’s pivotal role in the formation of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and other socio-cultural and ethnic associations, aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the plight of marginalized communities and advocating for their rights without fear or compromise.

On behalf of journalists in Delta State, the NUJ Chairman extended heartfelt condolences to the Clark family, noting that the elder statesman’s passing sent shockwaves across the nation, with tributes pouring in from prominent figures who recognized his immense contributions across all spheres of life.

Describing Pa Clark as a friend of the media, Comrade Oyowe pledged the NUJ’s commitment to supporting the family during the burial ceremony as a mark of respect and admiration for his towering legacy.
