Tears flew freely from shop owners and sympathizers when Hausa biggest market in Delta State located on Asaba/Benin road was completely razed down by fire.
Though circumstances which led to the incident were hazzy as at press time, an eye witness confirmed to our correspondent that the flame of the fire was observed from one of the shops at about 7pm and later spilled over to others.
All effort made by the shop owners, sympathizers and a rescue team from the immediate community to reduce the tempo of the inferno did not yield the desired result, an eyewitness further said.
Delta State fire fighters deployed to the scene to savage the situation could not make much impact following the volume of the fire, said the source.
