A fresh political controversy is brewing in Delta State as a video of former lawmaker and Delta South PDP Senatorial candidate, Michael Diden, popularly known as Ejele, campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 has surfaced online.

Watch the video below 👇

In the video, which is making rounds across social media platforms, Ejele is seen leading what he calls a “Gate to Gate for Tinubu” campaign, a grassroots mobilization initiative aimed at rallying support for the President’s second-term ambition.

The footage has sparked political debate, as Ejele is still publicly affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party that has yet to declare its stance on Tinubu’s re-election bid.

His open and enthusiastic endorsement of the APC-led administration is being seen by many as a clear departure from the PDP’s ideological position and an implicit declaration of loyalty to the ruling party.

Hear him: “Once again, as I told you before, I am not a coward. If I want to decamp to any party, I will make known to the who world that I am decamping but today, I have not decamped.

“But I follow the footsteps of our leaders in our area where our present governor Chief Francis Sheriff Oborevwori made it known to the people of Uvwiamuge and Delta State that anybody who lives him should support President Tinubu.

“The Orodje of Okpe, the notable king in Delta State recognized in the World and of course Nigeria, has also made it known to us that we should support President Asiwaju Ahmen Bola Tinubu for president.

“We should not make the mistake of past where we supported somebody against President Goodluck Jonathan and we lost our chances.

“Buhari, eight years, Obasanjo eight years, Tinubu eight years. We have decided to launch as organization for him, “Gate to Gate”.

“Without the gate, you can’t access the door and we will campaign from the gate to the door and from the door to the bedroom.

“Thank you as you follow us to launch this campaign for President Ahmed Tinubu, president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, come 2027, God bless you all”, he declared.

“We are taking Tinubu’s message from gate to gate, from door to door, until 2027,” Ejele is heard saying in the video, flanked by Ese Sanco, the National Secretary, Delta Political Vanguard.

Political Double Standards?

Ejele’s actions have raised eyebrows not only within the PDP but also among political observers who view the move as a deliberate and strategic alignment with federal power, likely aimed at positioning himself for political relevance or future appointments.

Critics argue that his “Gate to Gate” campaign reeks of political inconsistency and opportunism, especially given that he has not officially renounced his PDP membership or explained his rationale for supporting a rival party’s presidential candidate.

PDP Leadership Silent

The silence of the PDP leadership in Delta State has only added fuel to the fire, with many wondering whether the party intends to discipline what appears to be open defiance or continue to tolerate such conflicting loyalties.

Insiders suggest Ejele’s public embrace of Tinubu may not be an isolated act, but part of a broader undercurrent of realignment within the Delta political elite, many of whom are weighing their options ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Calculated Move or Misstep?

While Ejele has not issued any formal statement following the backlash, analysts believe the video was not a slip, but a calculated political message designed to test the waters and court favor with the federal government.

As 2027 draws nearer, his “Gate to Gate for Tinubu” campaign may prove to be either a stroke of tactical brilliance or a miscalculated gamble that alienates him from his base.

For now, one thing is certain: Michael Diden (Ejele) has ignited a political storm, and Delta State is watching.
