Trouble started Wednesday when the overzealous officer identified as Mr. C. U. Mgbede, with force number MO702-09869, purportedly jumped into the truck in a Commando style and pushed down the driver after efforts to take over the steering failed.
Eyewitnesses said the driver landed on the tared road gasping for breathe, when the colleagues of the road safety actor mobilized and took their colleague to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, after irate mob punched him.
The road safety team were led by one Mr. Eneche popularly called Biggy.
The Road Safety officials were seen towing the vehicle to their office, after the driver was rushed to FMC for medical attention.
Commentators are however worried, that the activities of the Corps, is no longer on the safety of road users, but on alleged extortional drive.
