Suspected Cultists Arrested in Sapele and Oghara

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on February 3, 2025, at about 1:45 PM, arrested a suspected cultist and wanted gun runner, Stephen Oma Odu (25), from Obagho Community, Warri North LGA, in Sapele town.

His confession led to the arrest of another suspected cultist, Abel Festus, also known as “Tompolo” (42), from Oghareki Community, Ethiope West LGA, in Oghara town.

A search of Festus’ apartment led to the recovery of two pump-action guns and 24 rounds of live cartridges.

Further raids resulted in the arrest of Godspower Moses, also known as “Power” from Kokori Community, and Oloriode Owebe (24) from Oghareki Community, both suspected members of the Vikings confraternity.

Police have launched further investigations into their criminal activities.

Gun-Running Couple Busted in Okpe LGA

In another operation on March 9, 2025, at about 2:30 PM, CP-SAT operatives raided the residence of a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Bogbon Godwell, in Okpe LGA.

During the sting operation, police recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol with a single live round, allegedly meant for delivery to a client in Sapele.

Investigations revealed that Mrs. Uche Joshua, the wife, served as the arms dispatcher for her husband, delivering illegal weapons to various clients in Warri and Sapele. She confessed to her role in the arms trade.

Additionally, the police arrested Junior Moses Ogedegbe (30) from Useifurun Community, Ughelli South LGA, who was identified as an accomplice in the operation. Authorities are now making efforts to recover more arms and apprehend other gang members.
