Patrick Ukah, Director-General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, has been elected as a member of the National Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) during the Institute’s ongoing Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Ceedapeg Hotels, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Ukah was elected alongside sixteen other distinguished professionals into the highest decision-making body of the NIPR.
The election, which took place on May 22, 2025, marked a historic moment for the Institute as it was conducted electronically for the first time, widely praised for its transparency and credibility.
A total of 738 delegates were accredited for the election, with 518 participating, representing a 71% voter turnout.
Out of 20 candidates initially screened, 17 contested the election while three withdrew.
Dr. Ike Neliaku was re-elected as President with 518 votes, the Vice President received 468 votes, and Patrick Ukah secured a strong mandate with 422 votes.
Elder Emma Ogidi, a senior fellow of the Institute, commended Ukah’s election, stating:
“His emergence has strategically positioned the Delta State Chapter within the national framework of the Institute.
“His tenure is expected to accelerate growth, strengthen professionalism, and enhance ethical standards in public relations, both locally and nationally.”
Ukah’s election is seen as a significant milestone for the Delta State Chapter of NIPR, enhancing its visibility and influence in shaping the future of public relations practice in Nigeria.
