Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been urged to remain steadfast with those who contributed to his emergence as governor and to ensure unity within his political ranks.

This charge was delivered on Thursday, May 29, 2025, by the Archbishop of the Bendel Province and Bishop of the Ughelli Diocese (Anglican Communion), the Most Rev. Cyril Odiboghene Odutemu, during a thanksgiving service commemorating the governor’s second year in office.

The event took place at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba, the state capital.

Preaching from Ephesians 4:3, Archbishop Odutemu emphasized the critical importance of unity and loyalty in leadership.

Known for his bold and candid messages, the cleric warned against political fragmentation, noting that a divided administration breeds instability.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand,” he declared. “Delta remains one of the few states where post-election litigation is a norm, with the judiciary overwhelmed by electoral disputes. This should not continue.”

The Bishop cautioned Governor Oborevwori not to distance himself from his core supporters, those he referred to as “mighty men.”

“When your mighty men are far from you, your fall draws near,” he said. “The strength of any leader lies in the presence and unity of his loyal followers.

“Do not isolate them. Instead, gather them close. The more soldiers you have, the stronger your command.”

He further admonished the governor to be wary of misinformation and false prophecies, particularly those circulated via social media.

“There are false prophets already prophesying lies on social media. But whoever works to destroy the house of Yahweh will not set foot in Government House,” he warned.

Archbishop Odutemu concluded his message with a direct appeal: “Your Excellency, do not abandon your mighty men. If they seem to be withdrawing, pull them closer. It is in unity and loyalty that your administration will thrive.”
