Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has mourned the death of retired military leader and elder statesman, General Paul Ufuoma Omu, describing his passing as a profound loss to the state and Nigeria at large.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori paid glowing tribute to the late General, calling him a patriotic and principled Nigerian who served the nation with honour and distinction.
He lauded General Omu’s legacy as a former Military Governor of the defunct South-Eastern State and a man whose national service and statesmanship contributed significantly to Nigeria’s unity and development.
“General Omu was a beacon of discipline, integrity, and selfless leadership. His life was one of unwavering dedication to the betterment of society,” the Governor said.
Oborevwori extended heartfelt condolences to the Omu family, particularly his wife, Senator Stella Omu, as well as the Igbide Kingdom and the entire Isoko nation.
“Though we grieve his departure, we celebrate a life well-lived in service to God, the nation, and humanity,” he added.
He called on all Deltans to take solace in the enduring legacy General Omu leaves behind and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
