In a notable display of corporate social responsibility, FOOSTODEY, a non-governmental organization, has donated N5 million to the You Matter Charity Foundation, a humanitarian initiative led by the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori.

The donation, presented at a brief but symbolic ceremony held Thursday in Asaba, is aimed at supporting the foundation’s wide-ranging programs, spanning educational scholarships, healthcare outreach, women empowerment, and advocacy against gender-based violence and drug abuse, especially in underserved communities across Delta State.

Delivering the cheque, FOOSTODEY’s National President, Mr. Elvis Ahior, commended the foundation’s grassroots-driven approach and affirmed the NGO’s shared commitment to social equity and inclusive development.

“Our decision to support the You Matter Charity Foundation stems from a shared vision for a just and compassionate society,” Ahior stated.

“We believe in leveraging our collective strength to uplift the underprivileged, and this donation is an expression of that belief.”

He applauded the foundation’s guiding philosophy, encapsulated in the motto “Everybody is Somebody,” which reflects its mission to ensure dignity and opportunity for all, regardless of background or status.

“Today marks yet another milestone in our ongoing partnership,” Ahior added. “Led by our International Coordinator, Comrade Reuben Izeze, FOOSTODEY is proud to stand with Her Excellency as she continues to deliver impactful programs that touch lives in real and measurable ways.”

In her response, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, Founder and Chairperson of the You Matter Charity Foundation, expressed deep gratitude for the donation and FOOSTODEY’s longstanding support.

“We are grateful for this generous contribution and for your continued partnership. It is a reflection of the grace and divine favor that sustains this foundation,” she said.

“Your earlier donation of a Sienna vehicle and your commitment to building homes for widows speak volumes about your dedication to human dignity and welfare.”

She added that the N5 million donation would significantly expand the foundation’s ability to reach more rural communities where the needs are most pressing.

Also speaking at the event, FOOSTODEY’s International Coordinator and Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, emphasized the organization’s enduring commitment to social justice and solidarity with the vulnerable.

In a moment of rhetorical flair, Izeze echoed the famous words of former Ugandan President Idi Amin Dada, saying:

“We are here to retaliate the kindness shown to Mama Sarah Oisakede, the mother of the late NANS President. It is our turn to give back.”

He explained that FOOSTODEY’s current focus is on providing secure housing for widows across Delta communities, a mission shaped by past experiences, including the case of Mama Sarah Oisakede, whose son, Comrade Moses Oisakede, died more than 25 years ago en route to the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

“After discovering that she was still alive, we rallied support and raised N52 million, thanks to the intervention of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Her Excellency, to build her a home in Otuo, Edo State,” Izeze revealed.

“The You Matter Charity Foundation furnished it fully. That project reignited our passion for widows’ welfare.”

He concluded by announcing that FOOSTODEY will collaborate once again with the You Matter Charity Foundation to construct two-bedroom ensuite apartments for other deserving widows, affirming that their efforts aim to restore dignity and comfort to women who have long borne the brunt of hardship in silence.

“Humanity is our tribe,” Izeze declared. “And through partnerships like this, we are committed to building a Delta State where no one is left behind.”
