…Delta Assembly Passes Confidence Vote, Hails Visionary Leadership
As part of activities marking his second year in office, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has unveiled a comprehensive infrastructure report, highlighting 42 road projects scheduled for commissioning across the state.
Delivering the first-ever State of the State address before the Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday, Governor Oborevwori listed an array of road and bridge construction, rehabilitation, and expansion projects completed or nearing completion under his administration.
Major Projects Highlighted
The governor spotlighted key infrastructure projects including:
46km dualisation of the Ughelli–Asaba Road (Sectors C1 and C2)
Construction of Kwale–Beneku Bridge and approach roads
Rehabilitation of Esisi Road, Erejuwa Roads, and Central Hospital Road in Warri
Internal roads in Kokori, Kurutie, and Abraka
Township roads in Ogbinbiri and Ogbudugbudu communities in Warri North
Slipways at Soki Zion and other coastal communities
Oborevwori also reiterated the progress on his administration’s flagship flyovers and slipways in Warri and Effurun, assuring that these projects will be commissioned in Q1 of 2026.
“These projects reflect our administration’s resolve to connect communities, drive commerce, and improve the overall quality of life for our people,” the governor stated.
A Governance Philosophy Anchored on Results
Governor Oborevwori described his mid-term report as a reflection of the MORE Agenda, anchored on servant leadership, transparency, accountability, innovation, and excellence.
He recalled that upon assumption of office on May 29, 2023, his roadmap focused on economic growth, fiscal discipline, civil service efficiency, social inclusion, and infrastructure development.
“Our efforts have been intentional, guided by the vision to leave a legacy of purposeful governance that reaches every corner of Delta,” he said.
Legislative Endorsement and Commendation
Following his address, the Delta State House of Assembly passed a unanimous vote of confidence in Governor Oborevwori, commending his leadership and prudent management of state resources.
The motion was moved by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo and seconded by Hon. Edafe Emakpor (Uvwie). A second motion, led by House Leader Hon. Emeka Nwaobi and supported by Hon. Ferguson Onwo (Isoko South II), praised the governor’s strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
“Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated uncommon commitment to development, backed by strategic financial management and people-centred policies,” said Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, presiding over the session.
Looking Ahead
With two years left in his first term, Governor Oborevwori assured the House and Deltans of his continued focus on delivering measurable impact across all sectors.
“This is not just an anniversary. It’s a checkpoint of accountability. And I assure you, the best is yet to come,” he concluded.
